This article is going to discuss a very easy method for starting your campfire. First you have to find out if you are allowed to have a campfire in your campsite or your area of family tents. It is also true that one of the main causes for forest fires are campfires. So before light your fire up get permission to do so either from the park attendant or the forest ranger. When you have the proper permission to do your campfire then you can find your place to locate it. Campers that are experts have long said that the safest and best areas to make a campfire should be about 10 feet from your family tents and other flammable objects. This is due to the fact that the outdoors is unpredictable. The wind can whip up and blow in the direction of the tent really easily. After the area selection, the next thing to do is to gather wood. Large twigs, sticks and barks are good so you never will have the need to chop wood. When you do this, make sure that the ones you pick are dry since they burn easily. After you have all the fuel for this campfire, then you need to place a tarp on the ground of the selected spot. This stops any mess from being left after the fire and when you leave the camping spot. Once you have the tarp on the ground you need to place a layer of dirt on it and even it out. This dirt acts as insulation for the tarp so the fire won't burn through it, so be certain to have a thick enough layer. Place the wood in a teepee fashion. The right way to do this is to put plenty of dried twigs and leaves inside the teepee, then arrange the bigger wood pieces around the outside. The leaves and twigs act as kindling to get the fire going and then the larger pieces follow suit and catch on fire. After these bigger pi |

The leaves and twigs act as kindling to get the fire going and then the larger pieces follow suit and catch on fire. After these bigger pieces do catch on fire, then place some of the same size pieces on the fire around it. It is great to cover the wall of the teepee using the bigger pieces of wood. Just remember to leave the top of it open to the air flow. This will permit enough oxygen into the teepee. You will have a nice steady fire as long as you have enough oxygen to help it burn. When building a campfire, always remember that especially with its size, you should always have it under your control. If you want to cook food with it, simply enlarge and strengthen the flames by putting more wood in it. If you just want it to warm you and your family, make the fire small. Always remember to always put out the fire completely before you sleep in your respective family tents.
