Will you be spending more time on the loan and less on marketing and selling your products? If you want to take a look at the small business grants available, the best place to start is the Catalog of Federal Domestic ***istance (CFDA). The CFDA lists thousands of grants from all government agencies for free. Some of the grants will gear themselves toward minorities, women and rural programs but there are a lot to choose from, including programs that provide monies for training and equipment. There is a lengthy approval process, even if you find something that fits for you. There is a lot of competition for funds due to recent cutbacks in funding. Take a look at these simple tips for finding the money you really need for your small business. Small Business Grant Tips - Allow the grantor to have all of your accurate information provided in the grant application. Grant applications must be complete and robust in order to get a p***ing grade. Don't delay the application process by being incomplete with your application. - Find out who the grant officer is and find out their budget, concerns and constraints when it comes to getting the grant. - You will stand out if you have a well-prepared plan of business, especially if they need one. You will have to prove that you know your business well and that you know what benefit the money will provide for you and the agency. - If you need outside consultants or experts, be sure to bring them in. A good accountant or other consultant is a way of making your application more accurate and credible. - Make sure you keep up with the company that is doing your application. Don't be annoying about it but maintain a professional presence. - It isn't easy to find and apply for these types of loans. It isn't for the faint of heart and you need to be willing to go through a lot of stuff in order to have any chance of getting a grant.
